Copenhagen
In the Danish capital Copenhagen a visit to the 150-year-old Tivoli Garden is a must. Copenhagen is also known for its lively pedestrian mall, Stroget, the magnificent royal palace of Amalienborg and the picturesque buildings along Nyhavn Canal. With more than 50 museums, dozens of parks, canals and lakes, excellent shopping and a vibrant nightlife Kobenhavn is a city of beauty and good times. Try the Royal Theatre for ballet, drama and music. Or the annual Jazz Festival in July, with 300 concerts in 10 days.
Bicycles are a preferred mode of transportation in Denmark, even in Kobenhavn. There are
1.700 robust new city cycles on the streets and roads of Kobenhavn - free of charge.
Funen
On Funen you will find quaint villages, moated castles, and Renaissance manor houses. At the centre of Funen is Odense, birthplace of storyteller Hans Christian Andersen. He called Funen ‘The Garden of Denmark’. The name still fits.
Zealand
Verdant countryside, excellent beaches, and vast tracts of woodland characterise Zealand. Within an hour journey from Kobenhavn historical castles and churches can be found.
Helsingor
In Helsingor Kronborg Castle, home to Shakespeare's Hamlet, in Hillerod the 17th century Frederiksborg Castle and its National Historic Museum and in Roskilde the red brick cathedral with the 40 tombs of Denmark's kings and queens. Here you also find the Viking Ship Museum.
Jutland
Jutland is ideal for nature lovers. They will find seemingly endless, undisturbed beaches in West Jutland along North Sea coast, or idyllic landscapes with rivers, lakes and rolling hills-and more beaches in East Jutland. Skagen on the top of Jutland is well worth a visit; the light, the sandy beaches and the sea have been an inspiration for many, not least the artists who were part of the famous Skagen Museum.
Ribe
A visit to Ribe is a visit to the oldest town in Denmark. Ribe with its entire medieval town centre with half-timbered houses and cobblestone streets, and the medieval cathedral tower above an incredibly flat West Jutlandic landscape.
Legoland
For children a visit to Legoland in Billund is a must. The outdoor exhibition of buildings, monuments, cities a villages modelled after sites from all over the world constructed from more than 33 million plastic interlocking pieces.
Aarhus
Denmark's second largest town, Aarhus, is the cultural capital of Jutland with excellent restaurants, cafés, concerts, museums, shops and amusements. The whole family will love a tour around "Den gamble by", the old town, a very authentic museum for urban culture.
